Waking up in yellowstone national park before sunrise really pays off. I visited several places before coming to this one, and it was so freezing this time of year that the geysers and hot springs were putting out so much steam that it was making a fog around the entire area, giving it an almost creepy feeling.

It didn't help that I was the only one there as well.

this picture is very unique...so often nature photographers take pictures of what is beautiful and lively. This area is by no means ugly, but it almost looks unnaturally spooky, which I find breath-takingly beautiful. I can imagin the feeling you must have been experiencing...almost esoteric, beautiful, yet eerie...
Do you know if these trees were in this condition because of the cold weather? Or were they actually dead?
