Ocean Veil by michael-dalberti Ocean Veil by michael-dalberti

It surprises me how unpredictable the ocean really is. On the coast of Pacific City, this natural rock formation would be calm one minute, then have water sprayed 100 feet up the face, causing a short "waterfall" to enjoy for those who are willing to stand close.

Pacific City, Oregon

The colors in this picture are so nice and refreshing. I love how the water is flowing down in the bottom left corner of the shot. Really interesting!

Love the foreground, color, slow shutter work and composition. Any way you can bring some detail out in the island? It is too dark, and therefore distracting. It is drawing my eye away from the beautiful foreground and sky. Great work!!!

This is a tripod shot?
And after setting up your camera,
you covered it over with something waterproof,
and waited for a dousing with the spray,
and then removed the cover and took the picture.
Or, was the spray not reaching you?
It looks awfully close.
Those rocks on the right look interesting also.

yeah, this was a tripod shot. The water is deceivingly close, but I was a good 20 feet away from the closest spray. I waited for the water to run down the cliff to click the exposure... Really an awesome experience. I have a couple shots of the waves actually going up to the top.

I am always interested in the technique,
especially when it produces a photo like yours

I loved this place when I visited. Looks like you had some great light during your trip. I didn't check out this spot, but I wouldn't have had such nice light either. Makes me want to go back.
