Description

Mount Sneffels contrasted by the magnificent fall colors of Southwestern Colorado. Taken about 10 minutes before the sunrise hit the peak of Sneffels.

Isaiah 40:12: Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?

wow, really really good.

the sense of depth and balance between fore- and background are what make this shot very good composition wise. one thing that however could be better composition wise is the positioning of the mountain. right now it's a tad to much on the edge of the frame, simply putting something between it and the edge would probably solve that. the placement does however put more emphasis on the great foreground. which is why i am not sure it would have been better to move the mountain towards the centre.

if the composition of this shot would be the body of this shot (and it would be one finely shaped one). the colour would be the clothing. said clothing would be exquisite, perfect on it's own. but there is more to it. it would accentuate the fine shapes of the body. leading to something which is more than the sum of it's parts.

and that right there is a great accomplishment in photography, something that can only be done with skill, knowledge, insight, and talent.

the accentuation doesn't continue as much for the not quite perfect parts of the body (the mountain). this on the one hand improves the whole, by leading the eye to where beauty is. but on the other, it leaves you with a slightly unbalanced feel. which is the only real downside i see in this shot.

in conclusion: a great shot in almost every respect.
