Woke up really early to hike to this spot before sunrise. Even though it's the desert here, it's still stinking cold when the sun's not up! This place was fantastic and reminded me of "The Lost World" in Jurassic Park. Hearing the birds' echoing morning chirp was such an amazing and welcoming sound to a beautiful day.
I don't know if you've read Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, but that's definitely what this makes me think of. The characters go in search of a place where prehistoric animals still survive, and they have to climb a huge plateau to get there. I'm looking for a pterodactyl to come soaring over the top of that bluff. Heh.
